Bio

Kelly Dunbar was named the Director of Athletics at Montgomery County Community College on September 24, 2018.  Dunbar is responsible for the oversight and management of the College’s eight intercollegiate sports and oversees all athletic facilities on the Blue Bell campus. 

Montgomery County is a member of the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA), Region XIX.  Under Dunbar’s leadership, the Mustangs have captured their first Region XIX championship in men’s basketball (2020) and have had 64 student-athletes named to the EPAC All-Academic team, 26 student-athletes named EPAC All Conference, 22 student-athletes named to NJCAA All-Academic Team and 8 student-athletes named NJCAA All-Region. 

In 2020, Dunbar announced the addition of eSports, the College’s eighth varsity sport. The esports program has more than tripled its roster size and has gained national recognition. Under her leadership, the program has expanded to both Montco campuses (Pottstown/Blue Bell) and now compete in Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. 

Dunbar was a recipient of the 2019 League Excellence Award. The award recognizes outstanding faculty, staff, and leaders in the community college field who have made a significant difference in the lives of students and in the communities their colleges serve.

Dunbar is a 2001 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management. She was a walk-on to scholarship athlete on the Wildcats women’s basketball team where she is currently ranked 7th in assists and 11th in steals in program history.  She holds a certificate in Athletic Administration and a M.S. in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University.
