Montco Mustangs Surge Past Union College Owls Thanks To Big Eighth Inning

Montco Mustangs scored 10 runs in the eighth inning, which helped them defeat Union College Owls 13-0 on Tuesday at Jim Hynes '63 Stadium.  Ryan Bevins doubled, scoring two runs, Charlie Levy singled, scoring one run, Petyton Borchelt singled, scoring two runs, Nico Gomez-Vera singled, scoring one run, John Kurtz singled, scoring two runs, and Bevins grounded out, scoring two runs.
 
Montco Mustangs got on the board in the top of the third inning after Borchelt hit a sacrifice fly, and Union College Owls dropped a third strike, each scoring one run.
 
Carver Perrone earned the win for Montco Mustangs. The right-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and zero runs over eight innings, striking out nine and walking two. Jeremia Minaya took the loss for Union College Owls. The starter went three innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking three.
 
Montco Mustangs piled up 16 hits in the game. Brett Minnich led Montco Mustangs with three hits in four at bats. Bevins and Borchelt each drove in three runs for Montco Mustangs. Chris Tomlinson, Josh Patrick, Levy, and Kurtz each collected multiple hits for Montco Mustangs. Tomlinson, Bevins, and Levy each stole multiple bases for Montco Mustangs. Montco Mustangs stole 10 bases in the game.
 
Xavier Pena, Gabe Albarran, Niko Diamantopoulos, Greg Ayube, and Andrew Churzcwski each collected one hit for Union College Owls.
 
Montco Mustangs welcome Camden County College on Friday for their next game.
