Men’s Basketball Welcomes Two New Assistant Coaches

Blue Bell, PA – Montgomery County Community College Men's Basketball program is proud to announce the addition of two new assistant coaches, Marquise Smith and Jerome Monroe, to its coaching staff for the upcoming season. Both bring a wealth of experience, leadership, and a deep commitment to player development and community engagement.

Marquise Smith joins the coaching staff with over a decade of experience in basketball leadership, including roles in player development, team management, and youth mentorship. A proven mentor and motivator, Smith has a strong history of developing collegiate-level athletes and building competitive programs.

Most recently working as a personal basketball trainer, Smith has conducted individualized and group sessions that emphasize skill development and performance improvement. His coaching resume includes serving as Assistant Coach at the Community College of Philadelphia from 2019–2020, where he supported team operations, recruitment, and player development.

Previously, Smith was an integral part of Sankofa Freedom Academy Charter's basketball success from 2013–2019, helping lead the team to a 2019 1A State Championship and three regular season titles. In addition, he contributed to national youth development as a USA Basketball coach from 2015–2019, mentoring young athletes under elite standards.

Jerome Monroe also brings a deep passion for the game and more than 30 years of playing and coaching experience. Most recently, he served as Assistant Coach at Salem Community College, playing a key role in helping the team secure the Region 19 Championship. At Salem, Monroe was instrumental in player development, game analysis, scouting, and program fundraising.

Since 2020, Monroe has also led the Humble Lions AAU Basketball Program, where he serves as head coach and director. His work with the Humble Lions has helped foster a positive and structured environment for young athletes, emphasizing personal growth and teamwork both on and off the court.
