Game Recap: Mustangs Overcome Williamson Trade

Blue Bell, Pa. - On Wednesday afternoon, in blustery conditions at home, the Mustangs were able pull out a victory against Williamson Trade College.

The Mustangs got timely hitting late in the ball game from Tyler Phifer (2-2, steal) and Eric Lewandowski (2-3) and were able to capitalize on fielding errors from Williamson to pull ahead.

The starting pitcher for the Mustangs was Robert Walmsley who had a shaky game striking out eight and walking six batters in five innings but was able to pitch himself out of a few jams and only surrender one earned run to pick up his first collegiate win.

Matt Smith came in to pitch the 6th inning and walked two batters, but was able to get out of the inning. Zach Wasson entered the game in the 7th inning and struck out the first two batters before surrendering two walks and eventually recording the last out of the game on a strike out to record his first save of the season.

The Mustangs record sits at 3-2 on the season. They are preparing to head south on Friday to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for three days where they will play six games before heading home on Tuesday. They return to action back north on Saturday, March 23rd with a Doubleheader at home against LaSalle University. Those games are at noon and 3 pm.
