Mustangs Get Win over Cougars

by Tyler DeGiacomo

Mustangs never back down from a fight. That's exactly what happened when Montgomery County Community College met up with Lehigh Carbon Community College at Sheresville Field in Lehigh County.

It was a pretty quiet, routine game heading into the top of the fifth inning. The Mustangs led 5-2 mid way through the fifth inning. Sophomore pitcher Jay Kluka (Win, 7.1 innings, 5 strikeouts, 2 earned runs) dominated the Cougars' offense for much of the game.

Kluka was relieved of his pitching duties after recording an out in the bottom of the 8th with the score in favor of the Mustangs nine to seven. The Cougars had a rally going, but Robert Walmsley (1.2 innings) closed out the 8th inning with no more harm done.

The Mustangs tacked on two more insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning courtesy of a two-out, two-run double by Anthony Pletscher (1-2, 3 Rbi's, 3 Walks). Walmsley stayed in to shut the door in the bottom of the ninth inning picking up the save and a Mustangs win 9 to 5.

The Mustangs record now sits at 12-5 (EPAC: 2-0). The Mustangs travel to Princeton University (JV) for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 30th. The Mustangs next home game is Saturday, April 6th when they will take on Bucknell University (JV) in a double header starting at noon.
