Mustangs Defeat Ravens 71-53
Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men’s basketball team defeated the Reading Area Community College Ravens 71-53 on Thursday Jan. 21, 2010.
The game started off on a bad note for the Mustangs. Both teams went scoreless, missing a number of opportunities at both ends of the court until the Ravens finally sunk a basket at the 15:22 mark. The shot opened the flood gates for the Ravens, who beefed up their lead to 8-0 before the Mustangs were finally able to get on the board at 13:10.
But the Mustangs did not suffer the deficit for long, taking the lead two and a half minutes later with a shot from Dominic Oliver (Cheltenham). Once in control of the game, the Mustangs never looked back and were able to rob the Ravens of any opportunity to steal back the lead. By half time the Mustangs were up 13 points, 35-22, and during the second half the gap was expanded to as many as 20 points.
The Ravens were able to get within 11 points of the Mustangs with 6:00 left in the game, but could not advance any further. Ultimately the Mustangs took the 71-53 win over the Ravens, beating them for the second time this season.
The Mustangs are now 16-4 overall and 14-1 in the EPCC. Next, the team will travel to Harrisburg Area Community College on Saturday Jan. 23, 2010.
