Mustangs Top Hawks 90-81

Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men’s basketball team came from behind to beat the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks 90-81 on Saturday Jan. 23, 2010.

The Mustangs initially trailed 0-11 in the beginning of the first half but through persistent team effort, ended up with a two point lead at half time. 

“Our guys did a great job fighting back from our rough start. Once again, we did a good job of playing team basketball,” said Coach Denny Surovec of the recovery. 

Going into the second half leading 40-38, the Mustangs continued to battle their way past the Hawks. In a full team effort five Mustangs notched double figures in points to pad the team’s victory by 11. Tabias Thompson (PET Charter) lead the Mustangs in points with 18, followed by Michael Acquaviva (Plymouth Whitemarsh) with 16, Dominic Oliver (Cheltenham) with 16, Kenny Walton (Germantown) with 14, and Adam Jones (North Penn) with 11. 

Also noteworthy was Colin Stanton’s (Souderton) attainment of 8 assists as well as Acquaviva’s 6 assists. 

The Mustangs are now 17-4 overall and 15-1 in the EPCC. Next, the team will travel to Stevens College on Monday Jan. 25, 2010.
