Mustangs Steamroll Trailblazers

Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs basketball team maintained their winning streak to defeat the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers for the second time this season. Scores ran close in most of the first half with the Mustangs gaining steam throughout the game.

The Mustangs were the first to post after the opening tip-off. The Trailblazers knocked down some shots in retaliation but started to lose momentum at the 15-minute mark, unable to score for two minutes. Though Luzerne took another brief lead, the Mustangs matched every point until the end of the second half, when the game started to heat up. The half ended with the Mustangs leading 33-26.

Paving the way for domination in the second half, the Mustangs continued to do big things and started a full court push to widen their lead. Energized, the Mustangs took advantage of steals and interceptions to score 50 points in the second half. Frustrated, the Trailblazers wrestled for the ball in the last few minutes of the game, having been incapable of recapturing their scoring run. The second half ended with the Mustangs prevailing, 83-56.

Scoring leaders for the Mustangs were freshmen Ryan Getson, who racked up 19 total points, followed by sophomores Nick Roman, with a total of 15 points and Dan Drennen totaling 13 points and 9 rebounds.

The Mustangs congratulated sophomores Dan Drennen, Jeremy Thomas, Adam Jones, Dante Selby and Nick Roman for a successful 2010-11 season.

The Mustangs’ record is now 23-4 overall and 15-3 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference.
