Mustangs Top Trailblazers 98-54
Nanticoke, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's basketball team defeated the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers 98-54 Saturday.
The Mustangs dominated in the first match up of the season against the Trailblazers. Almost doubling the Trailblazers' point tally in the win, the Mustangs stormed the court to lead 58-29 at half time.
Twelve Mustangs saw action in the competition, all of whom posted at least four points. Leading scorers were Jarrell Gardner with 13, Marcus Langley with 12, Kenny Walton with 12 and Ryan Getson with 11. Langley and Walton also led in rebounds with eight and seven respectively.
Head Coach Denny Surovec attributed the impressive win to an improvement in the team's front court play. "Our guys played with good intensity today. Our offensive execution was much better than it had been the past few games."
The Mustangs are now 10-3 overall, 7-2 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference. Monday the team will host Cumberland County College at 7:00 p.m. in non-league action.
