Game Recap: Men's Basketball Tops DII Golden Lions

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's basketball team defeated the Division II Raritan Valley Community College Golden Lions 78-74 Thursday.

The Mustangs got off to a rough start in their first game back after the Winter break. A number of missed shots and turnovers left the Mustangs down 27-38 by half time. But in the second half the Mustangs found their rhythm, outscoring the Golden Lions 51-36 for the win.

Freshman Dexter Shy led the Mustangs with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Also earning a double-double was sophomore Jah'lil Williams with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Other top scorers for the team were Darnell Clowney with 15 points, Tyreek Magruder with 10 and Darryl Foye with nine. 

Williams and Shy also performed well on the court. Williams notched five assists and four steals while Shy contributed four assists and three steals. Freshman Greg Mendrzycki had five assists and three steals in the evening.

Next the Mustangs will face the Blue Jays of Manor College on Saturday January 12, 2013. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
