Game Recap: Hall's Double-Double Leads Mustangs Past Bucs

BLUE BELL, Pa. - The Mustangs Men's Basketball team won its second straight with a hard-fought 91-84 win over the Buccaneers of Atlantic Cape Community College in the home opener on Thursday evening.

Freshman Trevino Hall came off the bench to lead the offensive attack with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds as the Mustangs overcame a 24-14 first-half deficit to lead 43-39 at the break.

"We got off to a slow start, but I thought we played really well for the last 30 minutes tonight," said Head Men's Basketball coach Denny Surovec. "This a was good team win for us as we got key contributions from a lot of guys."

Indeed. Including Hall, five Mustangs scored in double figures. Freshmen Jared Stanley and Kanen Horton finished with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Sophomores Chris Uhrich and Tyreek Magruder chipped in 11 points apiece.

Also contributing big numbers in the win was sophomore forward Ryan Casper, who pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with 8 points. Horton added 5 rebounds, while freshman guard Matt Krewson added 9 points.

Montgomery performed well as a unit. On defense, the Mustangs recorded 14 steals - 4 each by Hall and Stanley. The Mustangs out-rebounded the Buccaneers, 38-28, and the home team converted 19 of 26 (73.1%) free throws opportunities. Atlantic Cape Community College owned the edge in field goal percentage, shooting just over 50 percent compared to 43.4 percent for Montgomery.

Next up for the Mustangs is a Saturday afternoon home game vs. Harrisburg Area Community College. Tip-off is set for 3 PM.
