Mustangs Post 3-1 Victory Over Hawks

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs beat the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks 3-1 on Monday October 19, 2009.

The Hawks and Mustangs played evenly throughout the game earning 15 shots apeice. But Hawks goal keeper Joshua Buser was no match for the expertly placed shots of Mustangs all-star freshman forwards Tom Dempsey (Methacton) and Dave Griffith (North Penn).

Two minutes into the first half Dempsey blasted one by Buser setting up an early lead for the Mustangs. In the 37th minute the Hawks answered back as Stephen Handford slipped a shot into the back of the Mustangs net. Tied at one apeice Griffith turned it into high gear and scored on a breakaway just 5 minutes later. Dempsey completed the Mustangs offensive drive with an early second half goal to give the Mustangs a two goal lead from which the Hawks were unable to recover. The Mustangs men’s soccer record is now 10-4.
