Game Recap: Men's Soccer Wins 3-0 Over Hawks

On Saturday Sept. 21, the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's soccer team defeated the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks 3-0.

In the first half the Mustangs created a number of opportunities to score, landing one goal by freshman Sebastian DeRosa. Up 1-0, the Mustangs continued to pressure the Hawks offensively, forcing them to switch to a line of six in the backfield. However, despite chance after chance, the Mustangs were unable to bolster their lead before the end of the first half.

In the second part of the game, the Mustangs continued to dominate the field. Hoping for more goals, Mustangs Head Coach Obed Arango made line up changes at the 65th minute to try to create more dynamic play and speed. The move was a success as DeRosa earned his second goal of the day, off a pass from freshman Anthony Ky.

Unsatisfied with just one assist, Ky led the team down the field once again, sending a cross-goal pass to teammate Sean Treacy, who knocked in Mustangs goal number three. The Hawks tried to recover the three goal deficit but ultimately left the field with a 0-3 loss.

With this win, the Mustangs are at the .500 mark at 2-2-1 overall and in the NJCAA R19 EPAC. Next the team will take on the Delaware County Community College Phantoms on Thursday Sept. 26. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
