Game Recap: Noga Nets 2 Goals As Mustangs Top Spartans, 3-1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Thanks to 2 goals from Darius Noga, the Mustangs Men's Soccer team improved to 6-2-1 on the season with a 3-1 win over Northampton in Region XIX soccer action on Tuesday afternoon.

Wilson Gonzalez remained red-hot, scoring his sixth goal in the last four games. He also assisted on Noga's second tally.

Baidy Ba scored early to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead, but the Mustangs rallied.

Noga scored his first goal of the season off an assist by Felipe Silva. A short time late, Tenzin Wangyal set up Gonzalez for his score. And just like that, the Mustangs were ahead, 2-1.

Mustangs' goalkeeper Andrew Toro fought off a flurry of Northampton opportunities and scoring chances, and thanks to a team effort in front of him, held the Spartans scoreless in the second half.

The Mustangs neutralized the Spartans' attack in the second half by changing their tactical formation. As a result, the Mustangs were able to control play for much of the final 45 minutes.

Gonzalez set up Noga for his second goal in the 75th minute to give the Mustangs the two-goal cushion - and ultimately, the win.

The Mustangs Men's Soccer team returns to action Thursday as they look to avenge an early-season shutout loss when they host conference-leading Bucks County Community College. The match begins at 3:30 PM.
