Game Recap: Mustangs Look to Playoffs after Loss

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women's basketball team lost 53-85 to the Division II Harcum College Bears Tuesday.

The Mustangs stayed within reach of the Bears throughout the first half, completing the period down 30-41. But in the second half the Beras pulled further away, outscoring the Mustangs 44-23. Ultimately, the Mustangs were no match for the Bears, losing 53-85 to the strong Division II team.

Sophomore Dayna McCrewell led the Mustangs with a double-double of 18 points and 21 rebounds, with an additional two steals. She was followed by Mallory Mugnier with 16 points, six rebounds and four blocks. Amelia Stockman also contributed with 12 points, six rebounds, one steal and one block.

Rounding out the scoring were Francesca Monterosso with five points and three rebounds and Samantha Kidd with two points, three rebounds and two steals. Steph Martinez and Liz Keegan contributed a steal apeice and also added three and two rebounds respectively.

The Mustangs have qualified for the NJCAA Region 19 playoffs and will be playing a quarterfinal match up against the Passaic County Community College Panthers on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. The game will take place at Passaic, starting at 6:00 p.m.
