Game Recap: Women's Basketball Falls 55-56 to Luzerne

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women's basketball team lost a close game 55-56 to the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers Saturday.

The Mustangs started the game with a strong 10-2 opening, but after some back and forth play momentum shifted to the Trailblazers. Catching up little by little, the Trailblazers were able to cut the eight point lead down to four by half time. The Mustangs went into the locker room with only a 27-23 advantage during the break.

In the second half, control of the game swung wildly throughout play. At one point the Mustangs led by six points, then a few minutes later the Trailblazers were up by eight. After almost 20 minutes of shifting control, the Mustangs found themselves down 55-56 with 20 seconds left on the clock.

Mustangs Head Coach Kelly Dunbar called a timeout to prep her team for a game-winning play. The Mustangs stepped back on the court, executing the plan perfectly but ultimately missing a layup at the buzzer.

While the game concluded in a disappointing 55-56 loss for the Mustangs, highlights included big scoring from Chloe Long, Lina Sirak and Bryanna Lacey, who notched 17, 16 and 14 points respectively.
