Game Recap: Women's Basketball Drops One to Vikings

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs lost 37-70 to the Vikings of Ocean County College Thursday evening.

The first half of the game was riddled with missed shots and turnover from both sides of the court. In field goals the Vikings went 16-46 for a 34.8% average, a slight advantage to the Mustangs' 30.4% average off a 7-23 effort. Still the Vikings were able to create more chances, lending to a 37-16 lead by half time.

After being outscored by 21 points in the first half, the Mustangs stepped up their game to cut that differential to 12 in the second. However, the effort was not enough to overpower the Vikings who tacked on another 33 points for the 70-37 win.

Freshman Angelina Sirak led the Mustangs with 12 points, five rebounds and two steals. Newcomer Kimberly Pessoa followed with 10 points and five rebounds. Contributing under the boards on defense were Morgan Sauermann and Kendall Gazzo with five and four defensive rebounds respectively. Sauermann also notched five assists in the effort.

The Mustangs are on the road for the next two games, Saturday Dec. 14th at Harrisburg Area Community College and Tuesday Dec. 17th at Delaware County Community College.
