Game Recap: Women's Basketball Falls to Roadrunners

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women's basketball team lost 46-56 to the Gloucester County College Roadrunners Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs showcased a strong effort in the battle, putting pressure on the Roadrunners throughout the matchup. In the first half the Mustangs struggle to get the ball in the net, resulting in a 12-point decifit at the buzzer. Trailing 21-33 going into the second, the Mustangs stepped up their game, outscoring the Roadrunners 25-23. However, the late effort could not make up for the scoring slump of the first half, and resulted in a ten point loss.

Jiana Clark led the Mustnags with 15 points and nine rebounds, followed by Morgan Sauermann with eight points and Kimberly Pessoa with seven. Twin Sirak sisters, Stephanie and Lina also contributed with strong performances on the court. Stephanie Sirak grabbed six rebounds for the Mustangs while Lina Sirak notched five assists.

The Mustangs are now 4-11 overall and 2-6 in the NJCAA EPAC. Next the team will take on the Phantoms of Delaware County Community College on Thursday Jan. 30.
