Game Recap: Women's Basketball Falls to Harrisburg

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women's basketball team fell 57-81 to the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks Saturday.

The Mustangs got off to a rough start with the Hawks taking a demanding 36-9 lead in the first 15 minutes of the game. After a regroup the Mustangs were able to change the tides with five minutes left before the half, outscoring the Hawks 11-4. The performance was solid but not enough to even the playing field as the Mustangs went into the locker room at a 21-40 deficit.

In the second half the Mustangs did not let up and came within six points of the lead at one point. However, the Hawks played a consistent game earning 41 points in the second half. While the Mustangs followed closely behind with 36 points, it was not enough to repair the damage at the start of the game. The match concluded in the 24-point win for the Hawks.

Jiana Clark led the Mustangs with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. She also added four steals. Bryanna Lacey also earned a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan Sauermann contributed, leading the team with five assists.

Next the Mustangs will play the Trojans of Valley Forge Military College on Tuesday Feb. 11. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
