Second-Half Comeback Leads Women's Basketball Past Luzerne

After going 1-3 over a four game home stretch, the Mustangs were ready to test their abilities on the road Tuesday as they traveled to Luzerne County Community College. Luzerne presented a good opportunity for a win, as they also brought a 1-3 record into the game.

The road atmosphere seemed to get to the Mustangs early on. The Trailblazer's lead expanded into a five point lead heading into halftime. But the Mustangs would not be discouraged. Montgomery tightened up their defense and focused on Luzerne's strong three-point shooting. After the third quarter, the Mustangs had shut down both of Luzerne's leading scorers and had erased the Trailblazer's lead. Montgomery never looked back and finished with a 79-72 road win.

Maria Cotellese (FR, Pope John Paul) exploded in the second half for 26 points. She finished the game at 80% from beyond the arc. Taylor Keys (SO, Berks Catholic) also contributed 21 points.

Next, women's basketball travels to USCAA powerhouse Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Saturday to try and build on the momentum they gained in this game.
