Mustangs Take Down Skylanders 52-35

The Montco Women's Basketball team picked up their second win of the season in a favorable matchup against the Sussex County Community College Skylanders on Thursday night. The Mustangs dominated the game from start to finish, improving to 2-1 on the young season.
Montco started the game at a fast pace, driving towards the paint and finishing on numerous tough buckets, giving them a standout lead early-on – a lead that would give them a large cushion for the rest of the game. Their ability to force turnovers and bad shots from the Skylanders was huge for the Mustangs, as their active defense led to a multitude of fast-break points throughout the contest. Relentless energy, encouragement, and engagement from coaches Shay Collins and Latoya Laing helped Montco stay focused and engaged, even when they were up big. Montco led 19-2 at the end of the first quarter, and finished the game 52-35. The Mustangs have played hard in every contest thus far, from the first to the fourth quarters, making them exciting to watch and easy to root for!
Naiya Daisey led the Mustangs in scoring for a third straight game, stuffing the stat sheet with 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals, in 35 minutes. Kaysia Norris contributed with 15 points of her own, to go along with a team-high 8 rebounds. Guard Cha'nyah Dunston Mason was a jack-of-all-trades with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and a block. Forward Lily Sherman poured in 6 points and 7 rebounds in this matchup.
The Mustangs will look to ride the momentum of this game forward in their next matchup, Tuesday, November 22, against the Northampton Community College Spartans (3-3). The Spartans are 0-3 on the road, and Montco will try to capitalize and pick up their first home win of the season. Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
