Mustangs Improve to 4-2, Take down Lehigh Carbon 72-43

The Montco Mustangs' women's basketball team picked up their 4th win of the season on Saturday, moving to 4-2 after a victory against Lehigh Carbon Community College.

The Mustangs played a tough Lehigh Carbon Community College squad on Saturday, a team that challenged them physically and fundamentally – however, the Mustangs prevailed. It was truly a showcase by the Mustangs on defense, playing with high intensity in order to match the physicality of the Cougars' players. The Mustangs kept level heads in a game that got out of hand multiple times, and played with determination, focus, and poise, guiding them to a big win. After leading 11-9 at the end of the first quarter, the Mustangs scored 61 points over the course of the next three quarters, while allowing only 34 points by the Cougars!

Cha'Nyah Dunson Mason was unstoppable for the Mustangs, dropping 24 points on 9-19 shooting, as well as 3 assists and 2 steals. Naiya Daisey, who exited mid-game due to injury, showed her resilience by coming back and finishing the game. She ended with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Lily Sherman poured in 6 points and a huge 16 rebound performance. Taylor Johnson also had a big game off the bench, scoring 10 points and pulling down 3 rebounds.
