Defense Propels Mustangs over Skylanders 72-49

The Mustangs pressured Sussex relentlessly throughout the night forcing the Skylanders into 30 turnovers as they prevailed in their season opener 72-49. Freshman Koumba Samassa took charge on both ends of the court recording 30 points, 15 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 3 steals. Montco would jump out to a 17-10 lead after the first quarter before blowing the game wide open in the second outscoring Sussex 21-4 to take a 38-14 lead into the half. The Mustangs displayed a complete team effort. Erionnah Fleming-Shelley scored 17 points and added 6 assists and 8 rebounds. Saityiana Evans chipped in with 10 points and was a force inside defensively. Tyanna Wall and Ti'eisha Walker were relentless in their press helping the Mustangs record 14 steals which led to 21 points for the Mustangs. Montco will play again on Saturday November 18th  when they host their Hoops for Hunger game vs. CCP.

 

Support Montco students by bringing fridge-free, ready to eat, healthy foods and snacks to the Men's and Women's Basketball Games on Saturday, November 18 in the Health Sciences Center (HSC) Main Gym. Women play at noon and Men play at 2 p.m. All items will benefit Montco's Stock-Up Program through the Wellness Center. A list of items students request frequently can be found here
