Mustangs Capture 1st Regular Season EPAC Championship in Program History

The Montgomery County Community College Women's basketball team clinched their first EPAC Conference Title with an emphatic 65-35 win over Lehigh Carbon Community College. Extending their win streak to four games, the Mustangs have been on an absolute tear since their 70-67 overtime win over Northampton Community College on January 25th.

The Mustangs won all four quarters in the matchup against Lehigh Carbon, in a scrappy matchup the displayed how hard the team has fought all year, playing every minute from start to finish with energy and tenacity. Rachel Dunn led the Mustangs in scoring with 21 points on 7-14 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Aniya Boland was unstoppable on the boards, grabbing 16 rebounds coupled with 10 points of her own. Koumba Samassa also had a double-double, with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Mustangs gave up only 35 points in the entirety of the 40-minute game.

The Mustangs move to 9-4 on the season with four games remaining in the regular season, all at Montco's home court.

The Mustangs went 4-2 in conference play this season to secure the EPAC title, the first in the Women's program's history. Koumba Samassa has led the Mustangs in scoring this season, averaging a double-double with 17.9 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game on an efficient 46% from the field. Aniya Boland and Rachel Dunn have averaged double-digit scoring figures thus far, averaging 14.5 and 11.7 points per game respectively. Boland has led the team in rebounding, grabbing 13 rebounds per game.

On the defensive end, five Mustangs have averaged 2+ steals per game this season, with Ti'eisha Walker, a defensive menace, leading the charge with 4.2 steals per game. Koumba Samassa has led the team in blocks this season, swatting away 2.2 blocks per game.
