Three Mustangs Earn All-Regional Recognition
Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College women’s soccer team ended regular season play Friday with a record of 9-5 overall and 6-2 in Region XIX, Division III of the National Junior Colleges Athletic (NJCAA).
In their first season of intercollegiate play, the Mustangs earned 3 seeding, just behind nationally ranked soccer powerhouses 1 seeded Ocean County College and 2 seeded Camden County College. Ocean and Camden are ranked 3 and 10 respectively in the NJCAA Division III Top Ten National Poll.
Head Coach Tim McNally attributes the Mustangs’ success to an exceptional and consistent team effort but opposing coaches in Region XIX took notice of three Mustangs whom they voted to earn All-Region Honors this year. Freshman forward Jeannine Mason (Methacton) and freshman defender Danielle Lillo (North Penn) earned spots on the All-Region First Team.
This season, Mason posted 10 goals and 10 assists and with a total of 30 points, she is ranked 4th in the Region and 32nd nationally in points earned. Lillo consistently led the Mustangs defense with aggressive play, coming up from the backfield to notch five assists this season.
Sophomore Stephanie Doran (Lansdale Catholic) earned a spot on the Region XIX All-Region Second Team. With 6 goals and 7 assists (19 total points), Doran ranked 12th in the Region for points earned.
