Cougars Knock Mustangs Out of Playoffs in Semifinal
In their first season of intercollegiate competition since 1989, the Montgomery County Community College women’s soccer team advanced to tournament play. Going 9-5 overall this season and 6-2 in the region, the 3 seeded Mustangs entered the NJCAA Region XIX Division III playoff semifinal game against the 2 seeded Camden County College Cougars last week.
Earlier in the season the Mustangs fell to the Cougars 0-4. Hoping to produce a different outcome in playoff competition, the Mustangs brought aggressive offensive play to the field. But even with a goal from freshman Megan Kelly (North Penn), the Mustangs were unable to come out on top of the Cougars.
Winning the game with a final score of 4-1, the Cougars now advance to the NJCAA Region XIX Division III Championship game against the 1 seeded Ocean County College Vikings, who are currently ranked 3 in the NJCAA Division III National Poll.
