The Mustangs women's soccer team traveled to Bucks County Community College Tuesday to take on the Centurions in their first game of the season.
In the first half of the game the Mustangs struggled to find their rhythm as the team worked out some first-game kinks. With a strong performance by the defense and second year sophomore goal keeper Liz Keegan, the Mustangs were able to end the half tied at 0-0.
"The young Mustangs team looked a little green in the first half, but handled the pressure very well," commented Head Coach Tom Haney. "They took the offensive barrage of attacks and managed to hold themselves together."
After a half time rally, the Mustangs squad stepped onto the field with a renewed self-confidence, showcasing a cohesive attack and a number of close scoring opportunities. The second half of the game was back and forth, but in the 71st minute Bucks posted to the board. The Mustangs continued to pressure Bucks but could not convert a goal, concluding with a 0-1 loss.
Coach Haney was excited about how the team progressed through the game. "This was our first game so we had some adjustments to make. The second half proved that we can build some momentum quickly and I think we are all looking forward to Thursday's game against Camden to see how we can progress from here."
