Game Recap: Women's Soccer Loses to Manor

The Mustangs women's soccer team lost 2-4 to the Manor College Blue Jays Thursday.

The Mustangs came out strong with a barrage of shots on the Blue Jays keeper early in the first half. At 23:10 sophomore Liz Keegan knocked in the team's first goal to put the Mustangs up by one. Less than three minutes before half time, Keegan passed the ball out to sophomore Liz Mencel who scored the Mustangs' second goal of the game.

At half time the Mustangs sat in good position, leading the Blue Jays 2-0.

However, the Blue Jays made a few key adjustments and blazed out onto the field after the break. Three minutes into the second half, Manor was able to earn a break away past the Mustangs' defensive line to break the shut out. Less than five minutes later, the team scored again to tie it up.

Frustrated to lose the lead, the Mustangs struggled to regroup. At 67:14 the Blue Jays scored again to steal the game from the Mustangs. With an assurance goal at 80:13, the Blue Jays nailed down the 4-2 win.

"I think this was a tough lesson in how quickly the tides can turn," commented Head Coach Tom Haney. "We're going to pick up the peices and reorganize this weekend. We play Manor again Tuesday, so this loss is motivation to go into that game full force."
