Game Recap: Mustangs Fall to Camden

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women's soccer team traveled to Blackwood, N.J. to face off against the Cougars of Camden County College Tuesday.

The game started off well for the Mustangs, who were able to put offensive pressure on the Cougars almost immediately. But ten minutes into the game, the Cougars earned a break away goal, putting the team on the board first. Three minutes later, the Cougars repeated the performance to give themselves a 2-0 advantage.

The Mustangs tightened up their defense and were able to recover from the three minute slip up with a goal in the 22nd minute by sophomore captain Taylor Sejda. The score remained 2-1 for almost 15 minutes until the Cougars put another one in the goal just before half time.

In the second half, the Mustangs reorganized and produced 17 chances up top, but could not convert on the board. The Cougars were able to slip one by the Mustangs' goalie half way through the period to bolster the final score to a 4-1 win.

"The girls seemed to be able to execute the system we were running pretty well. It created a lot of opportunities in front of the goal," said Assistant Coach Amanda Rogers. "We just couldn't finish.. it's something we'll work on this week in preparation for games on Thursday and Saturday."

Thursday the team will host the Raritan Valley Community College Golden Rams and Saturday the Mustangs travel to Union County College.
