Recap: Focus On Positives Following Loss To OCC Vikings

BLUE BELL, Pa. - Three days after posting a shutout win in its season opener, Montgomery was blanked 4-0 by the Vikings of Ocean County College in a Region XIX soccer match Tuesday afternoon.

Despite the game's outcome, Head Women's Soccer Coach Ben Winderman came away pleased with the way his team battled.

"Ocean provided a good early-season test for our team," Winderman said. "The girls fought 'til the very end."

Jordyn Ehrich cracked a shot off the Ocean cross bar deep in the second half on Montgomery's best scoring opportunity of the day. Ehrich played up top with Julie Primavera and Marisa Christensen against a formidable Vikings defense.

Shelby Poston and Chloe Carrow combined in goal for the Mustangs, making 12 saves and consistently keeping the game within reach, while the defensive backfield led by Erica Christensen, Devon Beck, Alison Henning and Lindsay Babst turned in a courageous performance.

Montgomery tallied six shots and four corner kicks on a day which saw the team even its record at 1-1 in Region XIX.

"The day was not without victory," Winderman said. "There are plenty of positives we can take from this game and build on."

The women's soccer team is back in action Thursday when it hosts Bucks County Community College in a 3:30 pm match.
