Game Recap: Volleyball Downs Manor

The Mustangs volleyball team made quick work of the Manor College Blue Jays, defeating the opponent in three sets Tuesday evening.

Game scores were 25-7, 25-0 and 25-4 to the Mustangs' favor. Sophomore Nikki Reichert led the second match for the Mustangs, serving 25 straight points for the shut out win. She tallied 19 of the team's 37 total aces for the competition.

Reichert said of her serving, "I have always been confident of my serve and it just happened to be falling in the right places in the Manor game."

Opposite hitter Kendall Gazzo led in kills for the evening with nine and earned an .818 hitting efficiency. Alex Griffin followed with four kills on four swings, to earn a 1.000 efficiency. Overall, the team earned a .485 hitting efficiency in the win.

Mustangs Head Coach Misti Volpe said of the evening, "Our girls did a good job of coming out strong during the match. We have been emphasizing to them to 'set the tone' for each match by having our energy lead the momentum. They really accomplished that tonight."

The Mustangs are gearing up for their next match Thursday night at home against Northampton Community College. In the two teams' first match up of the season, the Mustangs fell in five sets to Northampton. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
