Game Recap: Volleyball Sweeps Harcum 3-0

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs volleyball team hosted the Harcum College Bears Thursday and ended the night in a 3 game set win.  Match scores were 25-16, 25-5 and 25-6.

"Our goal tonight was to come out strong and focused with our new lineup, and the team did just that.  We set the momentum in our favor for the match and earned the win this evening" said Mustangs Head Coach Misti Volpe.  "The girls did a great job of communicating and connecting on the court."

The kill leader for the evening was freshman outside Liz Herezi who put away 13 balls on 31 attempts with a .323 hitting average.  

 "Liz did a great job of playing smart, finding the holes and swinging away when needed" said Coach Volpe.  

Offensively the Mustangs performed well, with three other players hitting over a .300 average. Kendall Gazzo had 8 kills, Marissa Raimondi had 6 and Alex Griffin added 5 for the night.  Sophomore Nikki Reichert dished out 25 assists for the evening.  Gazzo also attained a season game high in aces for the evening, leading with 11.  Reichert added 4 and Niki Gass had 3.

The defense was rounded out by Reichert and Griffin, who each dug up 9 balls.  Libero Kelsey Kowalick chipped in 8 defensive digs and passed at 100% efficiency in the serve receive pattern.

The Mustangs will host their final home matches of the season this coming Saturday, October 6, 2012.  The tri-match with Lackawanna College and Delaware County Commutity College will be dedicated to honoring the sophomores who have completed 2 years of play.  Matches will commence at 12:00 p.m.
