Big Day for Volleyball At Tri-Match

Volleyball hosted their first home tri-match of the season on Saturday agains Bergen Community College and Community College of Philadelphia. The Mustangs needed to rebound from their fourth loss of the season, so they took to the court motivated and ready to go.

It showed against a deceptively talented Bergen team in the first match. The Mustangs got off to a slow start in the first set before pulling away late for the 27-25 win. The second set was similar, with the Mustangs falling behind and then coming back for a slightly bigger win.

Finally the Mustangs had the Bulldogs on the ropes in the third set. Montgomery closed out the match with a 25-13 win and a 3-0 victory.

The Mustangs would take on CCP in their next match. The Lions, who recently changed their mascot from the Colonials, couldn't put up as much of a fight as the Bulldogs could. The first two sets were dominant wins for the Mustangs.

However, the Lions picked up the pace and fought hard for the third set. Not wanting to have a stain on their otherwise perfect day, the Mustangs punched back and took the close third set, 26-24.

Between the two matches, sophomore and one of the team captains, Miljana Vukoslavovic (Serbia) recorded 20 kills and 6 service aces.

The Mustangs have an excellent opportunity to move up the Region XIX standings in their next match, when they take on third placed Rowan College of South Jersey - Gloucester on Thursday.
