Volleyball Loses In a Close 3-0

Volleyball traveled to Rowan College of South Jersey - Gloucester on Tuesday to take on the Roadrunners. The match could prove to be crucial during the regional seeding process, as the Mustangs were sitting in fourth place, while the Roadrunners were in third.

The Mustangs traveled without one of their starters, Sam Zormpa (SO, Greece), who came up with a sickness. Instead, freshman Kikie Raphael (Springfield) started for the Mustangs.

Montgomery didn't look too far behind their typical starting lineup, playing a close first set. However, the Roadrunners pulled away late and took the set 25-17. The second set was even closer, with the Mustangs taking a 21-19 lead before losing the set 25-23.

Finally, down 2-0 and with not much going for them, the Mustangs got a chance to play some of their bench players and gain experience for a few of the athletes who might not typically get in the game. This led to a huge Gloucester lead and a big 25-6 third set win.

The Mustangs will maintain their fourth place record for the time being, with only two more region matches left in their regular season. They'll take on the NJCAA Division I and out of region Monroe College Mustangs on Wednesday.
